Today on the 14th of May we launched the second iteration of the financial inclusion index which expands to now compare the levels of financial inclusion of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The launch included insights from the researchers Belinda Chaora, Andrew Chisopo and Jackline Gachiri as well as contributions from Tendai Murisa (executive director of SIVIO Institute) and Chenai Chair (representative from Mozilla Foundation).
Around 70% of enterprises are included although only 40-50% have access to formal financial products and services. The SIVIO Institute Financial Inclusion Index (SI-FIndex) assesses the access and usage of traditional and digital financial products. Watch the livestream and explore the country reports to find key highlights and findings from the four countries.
