A Story of Change: Honzo’s Mobile Clinic Story

Chiedza Community Welfare Trust runs a mobile clinic in the remote Honzo community of Mutasa District. Health facilities lie more than 10 kilometres away and are hard to reach, especially for children, the elderly, and those living with disabilities. Even for those who manage to reach the clinics, consultation may be available, but medication is not.

This is where the $25 for 25 May campaign made its mark with a donation US$100

Through the generosity of donors who contributed to Africa Giving’s initiative, Chiedza Community Welfare Trust was able to bring tangible relief to Honzo. Operating a mobile outreach clinic that visits the community monthly, Chiedza targets the most vulnerable, those who would otherwise be left behind. On June 25, the clinic arrived not just with medical personnel, but with something far more precious: medication.

The donations funded essential drugs costing between $3 and $10 per person per month, a modest sum with monumental impact. 42 children received treatment for cold and skin ailments. Fourteen elderly residents, many of whom suffer from chronic hypertension, were given a full month’s supply of medication.

Chiedza Community Welfare Trust would like to extend its reach to over 150 children and more than 300 adults, who currently go without care. The vision extends beyond basic treatment: future outreach could address sexual and reproductive health challenges faced by young women and men, offering dignity and protection in a region where such services are scarce.

The story of Honzo is not just about medicine; it’s about connection, compassion, and the power of collective action. A single donation, as small as $25, can ripple through a community, bringing healing and relief to many.

Your support goes a long way with a little as $3, you can support the health of children in Honzo.
