Coalition at the Midpoint: An Assessment of the Performance of the Government of National Unity

Two years into the Government of National Unity, the South Africa Citizens Watch Tracker records an overall assessment score of 34% across 120 policy commitments. Economy recorded the highest assessment score at 41%, followed by Governance (38%), Corruption (34%), Climate Change (33%), and Social Services, which recorded the lowest score at 27%. Of the 120 promises tracked, 64 (53%) are In Progress, four (3%) have been fully Implemented, and 52 (44%) have Not Commenced. No promises were classified as Broken.

The report examines the actions taken, progress recorded, and areas where implementation remains limited. The findings point to increased government activity across sectors, but implementation remains uneven, with a significant share of commitments yet to commence.
